Before We Arrive
How To Prepare For Your Upcoming Garage Door Service
- Clear The Floor Area Under The Door
- Move Vehicles Off The Driveway
- Unlock Side Doors And Gates
- Secure Pets Before We Arrive
Please read each topic below before your appointment. A few minutes of preparation saves time on the job, keeps everyone safe while springs and cables are under tension, and lets the technician start work as soon as the van is parked. If anything is unclear, call us on (786) 709-9487 and we will talk it through.
Preparing For Your Garage Door Service
For most residential repairs you do not have to be there, as long as we can reach the garage and you are contactable by phone. We will confirm an arrival window when you book and keep you updated through the day, and the technician will call you before arriving. If a decision is needed on a part that was not obvious from the original description, we will call you with the finding and the price before anything is fitted, so you are never presented with a bill for work you did not approve.
If you cannot be there, arrange access in advance: leave the side door or pedestrian gate unlocked, share any gate or alarm code, and make sure the driveway is clear so the van can park close to the opening. Tell us where the garage remote is kept if we need it to test the opener, and where the power switch for the operator is if it is not obvious. When you get home you will find the written summary of what was checked, adjusted and replaced.
Before We Arrive
A garage door and its hardware take up the full width of the opening and reach back into the room, so the preparation that matters most is floor space and access. Work through the list on the right before the appointment and the technician can get straight to the fault.
Safety comes first on any door with springs or cables under load. Keep pets and children inside and away from the garage while we work, and never stand underneath a door that is being repaired or tested.
Your Pre-Visit Checklist
- Clear the floor area directly under the door and to either side of it
- Move vehicles out of the driveway and away from the garage opening
- Unlock any side door, gate or pedestrian access we will need
- Secure pets indoors and keep children clear of the work area
- Take down anything leaning against the tracks or the garage walls
- Note any new noises, sticking points or slow travel to tell the technician
- Have your remotes and any gate or alarm code ready
- Mention any earlier repairs, replaced parts or previous door damage
Never Operate A Door With A Broken Spring Or One Off Its Track
A torsion spring stores enough energy to cause serious injury, and a door that has come off its track can fall without warning. If a spring has snapped, a cable has broken or the door has left its track, stop using the opener and stop lifting it by hand. Do not pull the red manual release cord to disconnect the operator either: on a door with a broken spring, releasing the opener removes the only thing holding the door up, and it can come down hard.
Keep everyone clear of the opening, park vehicles away from underneath it, and call us on (786) 709-9487. We run 24/7 emergency dispatch, and if the door is stuck open and the property is not secure, or a car is trapped inside, tell us when you call and we will prioritise the visit. Any repair involving springs, cables or drums is work for a technician with the correct winding bars, gauges and spring matched to the weight of your door.
